Biography

Soprano Gillian Keith has become firmly established at the forefront of her profession since winning the prestigious Kathleen Ferrier Award in 2000. Born and raised in Toronto, she studied at McGill University in Montréal and at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she won all the major song prizes and the award for Best Final Recital. She studies with Ian Partridge and Barbara Bonney. She has earned praise particularly for her interpretations of Baroque music, and has recorded Handel's Gloria with John Eliot Gardiner on the Philips label. She is equally respected for her song performances and has recorded a disc of early Debussy chansons for the Deux-Elles label. Other recordings include Purcell’s The Tempest for Naxos and Hasse’s Il cantico de’ tre fanciulli for Koch.

She has appeared with major orchestras, ensembles and conductors, and at venues and festivals all over the world, and has sung principal roles with English National Opera and Scottish Opera.
